The
only place to start!
The Actors Showcase is the
perfect place to start your training without straining your budget! Under
the direction of Peter Stephenson Jones and the finest guest teachers
in
Australia we run a series of short courses which provide professional
training in all areas of acting. Many of our past students have gone onto
successful careers in the world of acting.
Students Talk
“Peter is an inspiration
as a teacher, actor, and director. He has instilled in us his deep respect
and knowledge of the art of acting, whilst nurturing, encouraging and
demanding nothing but the best from us all.
Through Peter I have taken
risks I never dreamed possible” Catherine Stevenson class of 99
“I look back and see
a teacher who has given me the ability to reach deep into myself to pull
out a dozen different characters. I find him full of ideas and he’s
able to get me to do things I never thought
I could do” Karim Shaker
class of 98
Our
Philosophy
To continually challenge students
to achieve the best they’re capable of. To do that we must be absolutely
open to new and challenging ideas. We strongly believe that narrow and
inflexible social
values are a barrier to achieving this because they
preclude students from experiencing change and ‘difference’ which is at the heart of every theatrical experience, they therefore have
no place in our
course environment. We hope to provide an oasis of freedom
where students are able to explore themselves and be ready for personal
growth in the context of the performing arts. While we highly
value tradition
we must also continue to explore and innovate to achieve to achieve new
and exiting modes of expression. In summary, we want our students to aspire
to excellence and join us in a
journey of exploration and discovery.

Course
description and outline
Performing, stage, and ensemble
skills will be foremost in the course. We believe in the total development
of the actor and our courses are geared to the real needs of the actor.
Additionally we believe that aspiring actors should receive a solid introduction
to stage acting which we believe is indispensable for a successful career
in both film and television.
Our course is an excellent first step in
honing skills for the budding actor. During the year there are a number
of courses available from beginner to advanced students catering for
every
stage of the actors’ development. Most courses involve some study
outside class contact time. Courses are structured to give every student
the opportunity to stretch the
limits of their creativity.
Processes
The course allows students
to learn at their own pace in a non threatening environment.
- You’ll develop confidence
and learn how to audition and get that part
- Learn the process of rehearsal
and discover new methods of developing a character in a clear practical
no nonsense way
- New ways of learning lines
and developing your voice, movement and creativity!
- You’ll learn stagecraft
and techniques and associated skills
- Voice and movement skills
are emphasized in our courses
- Group dynamic concepts will
take a central place in our courses.
Track Record
Our
track record speaks for itself because the school since 1986 has graduated
many students who were awarded certificates by the top personalities in
Australian theatre such as Monica Maugham, Mark Mitchell, Bob Hornery,
Ted Hamilton, Maria Mercedes, Maggie Millar and many more.
