stories alive!
As Victoria’s longest running educational theatre company, with over thirty years experience in presenting theatre to tens of thousands of students in school incursions across Victoria, The Flying Bookworm Theatre Company can proudly say that we know our audiences and their needs.
Our programmes are carefully selected to ensure we bring vibrancy and theatricality to your students’ learning. You can expect your students to be enlivened, entertained, engaged and educated by their experience, and that your students will leave the performance motivated to build on that experience.

Our actors are highly trained, but they are not the stars of the show... your students are! Our Stories Alive! programme emphasises participation and even puts some of your students in starring roles.

We offer two primary school programmes for students in grades prep to 6.
For our grade prep to 3 students we have our ‘Stories Alive!’ programme which combines classic stories, story telling and fables. Each performance goes for approximately 50 minutes and contains three stories which are selected by... YOU! By choosing the stories from our programme that suit you best, you can ensure that your students get the most out of the experience. Our story selection changes each year and include poetry, fairytales and world stories. You can find our 2026 story choices below.

For our grade 3 to 6 students we have our ‘Banjo’ programme which brings together three of Banjo Patterson's classic poems in an exciting and crazy educational performance of Australiana and bush poetry, which brings out the energy, excitement and brilliance of Patterson's language. It's poetry, but not as you know it.

“Just wanted to pass on a note to your actors to thank them for their wonderful performances at Trinity. The whole school totally enjoyed the live theatre experience. The staff and the students loved the stories and plays brought to us by the Flying Bookworm. The children were thrilled to be involved in all the plays and enjoyed the fun and hilarity that live performances bring. It was wonderful.”
